About our block mounts and posters

Styles

Organisations that promote designs via etshirts.com can choose to offer several styles of block mounts.

We currently make available three styles of block mounts and one style of poster. In all cases the image is printed on photo glossy paper.

• An A3 block mount on alum foam is approximately 30 cm by 42 cm in size, either portrait or landscape in orientation, and is mounted on 10 mm thick alum foam. Alum foam is a very light porous material that is designed to be dimensionally stable (it should not warp under normal atmospheric conditions). The edges of the mount are grey in colour, and have a very fine bubbly appearance, due to the texture of the foam. A mounting hook is provided on the back.
• An A3 block mount on gator board is approximately 30 cm by 42 cm in size, either portrait or landscape in orientation, and is mounted on 10 mm thick gator board. Gator board is a very light porous foam. The edges of the mount are black in colour, and have a very fine bubbly appearance, due to the texture of the foam. A mounting hook is provided on the back.
• An A4 block mount on gator board is approximately 21 cm by 30 cm in size, either portrait or landscape in orientation, and is mounted on 5 mm thick gator board. Gator board is a very light porous foam. The A4 mount is framed with a black plastic frame. A mounting hook is provided on the back.
• An A3 laminated poster is approximately 30 cm by 42 cm in size, either portrait or landscape in orientation, and is laminated with plastic, with a matte finish.

Caring for your block mount

To ensure that your block mount endures and holds its colours, please follow these guidelines:

• When you receive your block mount, handle it very carefully. Do not touch the glossy surface, as your finger prints may show. Do not drop the block mount, as the corners can easily be damaged by rough treatment.
• Do not hang your block mount in direct sunlight, or in locations that are moist or subject to extreme fluctuations in temperature, such as near air conditioners, heaters or fires.

Photographic images are printed to within 5 mm of the edge of an A3 sheet, and the block mount is trimmed to the edge of the photograph. There is no white border around a photographic image.
